In 2017 Supreme released a jacket with one of my photos on it. It sold out immediately, making clear to me that the world was watching my work. But it also changed the way I looked at my work.
It made me realize that a photograph doesn’t have to be printed on paper. That what we think of a photograph is too constricting. But it’s the way I’ve always shot, and always pre-visualized. So this collaboration opened up a new world for me to explore pre-vis with a different canvas in mind.
Much like the Supreme collab, this furthered my exploration into the idea “what is a photograph, truly?” We looked at the iconic chair and saw a canvas, where each seat became a part of a larger story. Where to get the full picture you had to group all the chairs.
To make this evident we took the chairs back to their photographic origin and shot them in situation in The American West.
